British Chamber of Commerce Support Travel Plans
The BCC has been concerned for some time about the mounting cost to business of the failure of the road transport network. They are currently looking for sustainable alternatives. A series of workshops engaging key stakeholders and expertise from their membership base have been held resulting in the production of a series of 5 pamphlets on sustainable transport.
The third pamphlet "Smarter Alternatives" looks at what can be done to nurture more sustainable work practices in UK companies, and represents the thoughts and recommendations of a number of experts in their field.
The Workplace Travel Plan Company produced a case study for this pamphlet relating to further development on a business park in Redcar and Cleveland which required a Travel Plan. The business park already has severe parking issues and the Travel Plan is helping to reduce these by encouraging employees to consider alternatives to the car.
